Sunil Chhetri’s header proved to be the decisive goal as Bengaluru FC edged past Kerala Blasters with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Kanteerava Stadium. After a goalless first half, Chhetri put the side ahead in the 55th minute.
Bengaluru started the game in a very cautious manner and slowly grew themselves back into the game. The side came close to taking the lead at the half hour mark when Augusto put Udanta’s cross into the net. But the linesman ruled it out, deeming the ball had gone out of play earlier.
Second half saw the hosts come out all guns blazing. Just 10 minutes from coming back on, BFC took the lead. A corner from Dimas Delgado found Chhetri completely unmarked, who from inside the box sent the ball into the back of the net.
Augusto nearly put his side two ahead in the 74th minute, drawing a fine left-footed save from T.P. Rehenesh.
Kerala had their fair share of chances in the game but poor finishing saw them surrender to a narrow defeat, their third in last five games.
