Mumbai City FC clinched 2-1 a victory against Chennaiyin FC in Indian Super League (ISL) on Wednesday at GMC Stadium. The former took the edgy win after Le Fondre netted a goal in the second half.

Sergio Lobera’s men managed to bag three points after they defeated Chennaiyin FC in the match against at GMC Stadium.

Chennaiyin’s striker, Jakub Sylvestr missed out on a golden opportunity to give his team a lead as early as in opening two minutes of the match.

Rafel Crivellaro had also got a chance in the next minute but his poor strike kept him away to tally his name on the scoresheet.

Adam Le Fondre almost registered a goal in the 25th minute after a powerful strike but the goalkeeper, Vishal Kaith denied the Englishman’s attempt on goal.

Rafael Crivellaro had yet another chance on goal after it deflected and fell generously at his feet but defender, Jahouh was enough to make a tackle himself and disposses him.

Jakub Sylvestr gives Chennaiyin the 1-0 lead

Chhangte went on a brilliant run on the right flank, beating four Mumbai City defenders and set up a pass for Sylvestr. He made no mistake and scored the sitter into the net, registering his maiden goal in ISL.

In the injury time of first half, Santana netted the equalising goal from a corner by Boumous as it was misjudged by Chennaiyin defenders.

After the enthralling battle of first 45 minutes, Chennaiyin FC looked the better side in the majority of the first half and eventually got the goal.

However, the celebrations were short lived as opponents, Mumbai City FC pulled one goal back in the injury time of the first half.

Le Fondre wins it for Mumbai City

A freekick by Boumous was flicked on by Rowlinn and Jahouh and yet again it was Mumbai City’s star, Adam Le Fondre who gave his team the lead and sealed the victory with a great finish.

Chennaiyin could not manage to make the score 2-2 within the regulation time. Thus, Mumbai City picked up their fourth consecutive win in the ongoing ISL.
