ISL Match 72 Review: Gallego helps NorthEast United prevail over ATK Mohun Bagan in a 2-1 affair


NorthEast United registered a 2-1 win against ATK Mohun Bagan on Tuesday in the Indian Super League (ISL) at Fatorda Stadium.

In the 60th minute, NorthEast United got the lead. A poor pass from Tiri went straight to Gallego who put Machado through to the goal as the linesman puts his flag up.

Tiri went down after he was muscled off the ball by the winger who took the shot and finished past Goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharjee. The referee had a word with the linesman and goal stood for NorthEast United.

Roy Krishna equalised in the 72nd minute. Brilliant ball was sent in by Hernandez. The Spaniard had gor the ball from Kotal in the centre and played the ball through a crowd of opponents for Krishna who got hold of it and sloted the ball home to level up.

With nine minutes remaining of the regulation time Federico Gallego pulled off beauty of a goal. He received the ball on the edge of the box, cut to his right and curled the ball around two men inside the box to find the back of the net to seal the win for The Highlanders.
