SC East Bengal squared off against Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Thursday at Tilak Maidan. The match ended all square after the scoreline was goalless.
SC East Bengal picks up their first point in ISL
The first half of the clash saw Jamshedpur dominating the possession and creating several chances. Jamshedpur strikers tested goalkeeper, Sankar Roy on multiple occasions.
East Bengal saw more of individual brilliance than team effort as the man with armband, Anthony Pilkington took the charge.
The skipper dribbled past a few Jamshedpur players and sent a through ball to Jeje Lalpekhlua inside the box but goalkeeper T. P. Rehenesh was first to reach.
The red and gold brigade had the blow almost near the half an hour mark. They were down to 10-men after Eugeneson Lyngdoh was sent off following a second yellow card.
In the 37th minute, Jamshedpur were unfortunate to miss out on a chance on goal as Stephen Eze’s header hit the crossbar.
Near the end of first half Pilkington had once again ran through the Jamshedpur defenders but his shot had little power to trouble the goalkeeper, TP Rehenesh.
Both the teams went into the dressing without registering goal.
Following the break, Jamshedpur created several prominent attacks. But, East Bengal remained in the game and refrained their opponents from netting a goal.
Jamshedpur had Jackichand Singh and Laldinliana Renthlei were involved in a couple of one-two passes on the right flank. But, Renthlei’s cross was a poor one and was not enough to test East Bengal.

The Jamshedpur player was also sent off after seeing the second yellow card marking it to be the second red card of the match.
Owen Coyle’s men are currently positioned at 5th on the table and will face Mumbai City FC on Monday, December 14.
Robbie Fowler and his men, who are currently positioned at the bottom of the table, would be looking forward to tally their first victory in the ongoing ISL when they take on Kerala Blasters on Tuesday, December 15.
