Having done the major work to secure a berth to the playoffs already, a draw with Hyderabad was all that was needed for FC Goa as they have reached the semifinals after a goalless tie at the Fatorda Stadium.

Hyderabad fail to turnaround while FC Goa sail into the semis

With an aim to secure three points, Hyderabad started with a high-pressing game from the start, impacting Goa’s passing game from early on.

Soon after the water break after the half an hour mark, Edu Bedia’s swerving free-kick from the left was headed away by Hyderabad center back Odei Onaindia.

By the 38th minute, Francisco Sandaza beat two Goan defenders near the box but his through went without a proper reception. At the halftime whistle, Goa just needed another goalless 45 minutes to seal the deal.

Minutes into the second half, Redeem Tlang received a brilliant cross from Saviour Gama, only to dribble and shoot it at the side net.

As the game reached conclusion, Hyderabad earned a brilliant chance in the 85th minute with João Victor’s superb cross aimed at Chianese in the Goa box, who missed to make contact on the ball.

In the 85th minute, both sides earned a red card each. From the Hyderabad bench, Luis Sastre was booked for throwing a water bottle at the Goa bench, while Noguera earned his second yellow moments after.
