An eventful first half set FC Goa to winning ways as they thrashed Bengaluru FC for two goals to one at the Fatorda Stadium.
Goa took an early lead that Bengaluru failed to catch up to
FC Goa took an early approach to take the lead and their first goal came on the 20th minute as Glan Martins delivered a calculated pass to Igor Angulo after winning possession from Bengaluru defensive midfielder Erik Paartalu. The Spanish forward wasted no time as it only took two touches to tap it past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
Within three minutes of the opening goal, Goa had their second strike of the night. As Bengaluru failed to clear the ball away from their box, winger Alexander Romario Jesuraj won possession and slotted it to Redeem Tlang, who thundered it into the net.
With the chance to make it to the playoffs slowly slipping out of hand, Bengaluru put all its workforce into build-up plays and by the 33rd minute, they had their first goal through an eye-catching strike from Suresh Singh Wangjam.
After receiving the ball from Cleiton Silva on the left-wing, Suresh skipped ahead of Seriton Fernandes, followed by a remarkably curling strike that ended beyond Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.
After the eventful first half, the second half was Bengaluru’s final attempt to score two goals to secure a playoff berth. Unfortunately, the former champions failed to even equalize, resulting in FC Goa handing them an utter upset of a scoreline.
