ISL Day 19 Review: Roy Krishna’s brilliance sees ATK down Jamshedpur 3-1

The top of the table clash in tonight’s game saw ATK beat Jamshedpur FC 3-1 at the Salt Lake Stadium. After the first half ended 0-0, Roy Krishna’s brace and Edu Garcia’s goal sealed all the three points for the hosts.

Jamshedpur made a quick start to the game and created the best chance of the first half when Piti crossed the ball to Farukh Choudhary. But Choudhary’s header missed the target and hit the crossbar.

After the initial 15 minutes, ATK stormed back into the contest with both Michael Soosairaj and Prabir Das causing Jamshedpur’s defense problems. But their backline stood tall, keeping the incoming attack out and going into the half time on level terms.

However in the 55th minute, ATK finally found a way through the opposition’s defense to take the lead. After Tiri’s tackle inside the box to stop Fijian from shooting ended in a penalty, Roy Krishna converted from the spot to put his side in the lead.

The Jamshedpur defense failed to handle Roy Krishna’s presence inside the box and he was brought down again in the 69th minute. Krishna once again converted the spot kick and put his side two up on the night.

Jamshedpur then got back into the game after they profited from the a penalty with 9 minutes to go. As they began to bring men forward in search of the equaliser, ATK sealed the deal.

A quick counter attack from the hosts saw Krishna once again being called into action. His inch perfect pass to Edu Garci was neatly completed by the Spaniard to give ATK all 3 points.
