Bengaluru FC are soon to officially announce a technical collaboration with Scottish Premiership side Rangers FC, and they are the second Indian football club to have a link up with a European club after Jamshedpur FC who previously partnered with Atlético Madrid.
Bengaluru, nicknamed ‘the Blues’, are the current defending champions of the Indian Super League, and will now be assisted by the Gers in pre-season training, youth development and squad exchange programmes, as confirmed by Khel Now sources.
Rangers, currently having Liverpool legend and former England international Steven Gerrard as the manager, are a formidable team in the Scottish league. Sworn historical rivals of Celtic FC, they have been triumphed as domestic league champions 54 times.
As part of the technical partnership, the two clubs are allowed to interchange youth players simultaneously between thew squads as they see fit. This will hugely benefit the Blues, as the Rangers have a pedigree of marvellous youth development programmes and reputation for securing places for youngsters at the club.
In addition, Bengaluru players will be able to undergo pre season training right in Glasgow, side by side with Rangers players, which will surely give them an edge over the oppositions in the upcoming seasons.
Bengaluru FC, formed in 2013, became the league champions in 2018-2019 season, topping the table with 34 points.
