Team India are all set to take on England in the third Test in Ahmedabad from February 24 and it will be a day-night affair. However, prior to the much-awaited Test, India speedster Ishant Sharma opened up about the match.
Notably, Ishant Sharma has been considered as one of the key performers for the team for several years now. The pace bowler has improved a lot in recent times and has been in a prolific form for the last few years as well. Moreover, he recently joined the elite list of Indian bowlers to claim 300 Test wickets and is now on the verge of becoming only the second Indian pace bowler to play 100 Test matches after the former captain Kapil Dev.
However, he would play a century of Test matches if he plays in the day and night Test in Ahmedabad. And the pace spearhead is ready to contribute as much as he can in the Test as well. “I only play one format, so the WTC is like a World Cup for me. If we reach the final and then go on to win it, it will be the same feeling as winning the ICC World Cup,” the paceman said.
Currently, India vs England Test series stands at 1-1 where England won the first one and India bounced back well in the second one with a huge 327 runs win. On the other hand, New Zealand have already qualified for the final of the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) and both India and England have possibilities to make it to the final. However, as far as India’s chance is concerned, if they win the series 2-1 or 3-1, they will qualify but a loss in either of the two remaining Tests will crush their chances as well.
However, Ishant Sharma said that he would have loved to complete a century of Test matches in Australia but he was out of action during the series due to an injury.
“I’d have loved to go to Australia and complete my 100 tests there but there are things that are not in your control. The sooner you forget things and move on in life, the better it is for you. This is the biggest lesson I have learned,” he concluded.
