“Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn’t get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team,” he tweeted.

Irfan Pathan’s playing-eleven includes:

Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan, Pragyan Ojha

Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan’s tweet came days after former India captain MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket recently and many of Dhoni fans have asked that he must get a farewell game. However, this also included Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Pathan has shared his playing eleven which also included the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh who didn’t get a proper farewell game for India despite playing an important role for India for more than a decade.

Meanwhile, a senior official of BCCI had said to IANS that they are eyeing to host a farewell match for MS Dhoni.

“There is no international series right now, maybe after IPL we will see what can be done because Dhoni has done a lot for the nation and he deserves all the respect. We always wanted to have a farewell match for him but Dhoni is a different player. He announced his retirement when nobody was thinking of it,” the official had said.

Along with Dhoni, ex-teammate Suresh Raina too had announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15. Currently, both of them are preparing to play in the 13the edition of Indian Premier League, starting from September 19.

On the other hand, the BCCI has received the formal approval from the central government to host the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE, IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel has revealed the news.

“Yes, we have received all the written approvals,” Patel told PTI when he was asked whether the permission has come in writing from both the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Notably, if an Indian sports body shifts a domestic tournament outside India, they require the clearance from Home, External and sports ministries respectively to host the tournament there.

“Once we had the verbal okay from the government, we had intimated the Emirates Cricket Board. Now we have the papers also, so franchises can be intimated that everything is in order,” a veteran BCCI official said to PTI on conditions of anonymity.
