IPL 2019; Fans witnessed a high soring drama at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium last night as the Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a formidable total of 202 against the Kings XI Punjab. The visitors were cruising toward victory after a brisk start from KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, with a flurry towards the end from Nicholas Pooran.
The Bangalore bowlers staged a comeback in the last three overs with Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini delivering by bowling tight overs. With 27 runs to win in the last over, R Ashwin hit the first ball for a maximum over the head of Yadav to take the equation to 21 with 5 balls to spare. However, when he tried to replicate his first ball heroics of clearing the ropes, he fell short as he the RCB skipper Kohli took a fine catch under pressure at long on.
Kohli, who is known to wear his heart on his sleeve and is often quite animated during matches gave a fiery send off to Ashwin by indicating that he cannot clear the ropes every time and gestured the same to him.
Ashwin too is known to be a highly competitive character on the field walked off in anger and was seen throwing his gloves in anger in the dugout. Ashwin appeared to be distraught as he could not get his team over, and the send-off from Kohli added insult to the injury.
Earlier in the match, we also witnessed a similar animated send-off from Ashwin as he dismissed Moeen Ali.
The home side again managed to win a last over thriller, and there is no denying that there will be a lot of emotions flowing as we come towards the fag end of the tournament.
