IPL Playoffs: No terror threat to Virat Kohli, RCB skips practice session due to Ahmedabad heat

Ahead of the IPL 2024 Eliminator, there were media reports suggesting that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cancelled their practice session due to a terror threat to the star batter Virat Kohli. However, contrary to this belief, sources have confirmed to India Today that RCB’s decision was solely due to excessive heat, not any security threat.

No Terror threat to RCB & Virat Kohli

RCB’s practice session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was cancelled due to the scorching weather. The temperature soared to over 45°C, making it unsafe for players to train outdoors.

Initially scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, RCB requested a change to 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. However, due to the extreme heat, the team decided not to practice at all. Floodlights were available until 6:30 PM, but health concerns took precedence.

A top source at the Ahmedabad stadium clarified that there was no security threat. The team was offered an indoor practice arena, but they opted to skip the session entirely due to the weather.

RCB in a stupendous form

Despite facing elimination earlier in the season, RCB made an incredible comeback, winning six consecutive games. They secured a playoff spot by defeating Chennai Super Kings. Now, they face Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, with a chance to reach the final.

RCB’s decision to skip practice was a precautionary measure to safeguard players’ health in the extreme Ahmedabad heat, not due to any terror threat.
