IPL Auction: Chennai Super Kings rope in Cheteshwar Pujara for Rs 50 lakh

The mini-auction of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has taken place in Chennai on February 18. While Chris Morris broke all-time record, India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara stole the limelight as the three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought him at the player auction on Thursday.

Notably, CSK bought him for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. Pujara, in a video shared by the franchise on social media on Friday, shared his happiness after being chosen by the MS Dhoni-led team and also said that he is looking forward to playing for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition as well.

“Great to be back in the IPL. Really looking forward to play in the yellow jersey. I’ll be playing with Dhoni bhai again and he was the captain of the team when I made my debut and I have fond memories of playing under Mahi bhai and really looking forward to play with him again,” Cheteshwar Pujara said.

Pujara, who is one of the players in the longer format of the game, said that he believes in good preparation and he hopes to do well in the IPL. He has so far played 30 matches in the cash-rich league and has scored 390 runs as well which also including a half-century. He had last played in an IPL game way back in 2014.

“Talking about the IPL, I think it is a change of mindset switching from the Test format to the IPL and you just need to switch the gears as early as possible. So, I feel it is the mental aspect which changes quickly with good preparation I am really hopeful that I’ll do well in the IPL,” Pujara further added.
