IPL Auction 2024: CSK Buys Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur; Pat Cummins Joins SRH

Chennai Super Kings have roped in Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur and SunRisers Hyderabad have purchased Pat Cummins in the ongoing IPL 2024 Auction which is taking place at the Cola Arena in Dubai.

Rachin Ravindra joins CSK

The promising New Zealand international Rachin Ravindra has been bought by CSK for 1.8 Crores. He made a memorable impact in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He became the youngest New Zealand batsman to score a century on debut. He was unbeaten for 123 off 96 balls against England and displayed an exquisite performance that had the Cricket fans delighted.

Rachin Ravindra’s third century in the ODI World Cup 2023 helped the Kiwis to emerge victorious and also broke records in the process. He also become the youngest batter with the most World Cup hundreds before the age of 25.

He has played 18 T20Is and has scored 145 runs while picking up 11 wickets. Chennai Super Kings would certainly have the benefit from his spin bowling on turning Indian pitches.

Homecoming for Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur has been a major player for Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2021. He also steered his side to a title in 2021 as well. Shardul was roped in by Delhi Capitals for Rs. 10.75 crore in 2022 auction. However, he was traded to Kolkata Knight Riders in the following year. After being released by KKR, he was up for grabs in the 2024 auction and he is returning to CSK after they bought him for 4 Crores

Pat Cummins sold to SRH

Aussie pacer Pat Cummins has been bought by SunRisers Hyderabad for 20.50cr. He has now become the most expensive player in IPL history. SRH got him after an intense bidding war with Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
