IPL 2024: LSG’s Mayank Yadav to miss matches against DC and KKR due to an injury

Mayank Yadav, the young pace sensation of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), is set to miss the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 group matches against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), scheduled for April 12 and April 14, respectively.

Yadav, who has been turning heads in IPL 2024 with his express pace, suffered a side strain during LSG’s match against Gujarat Titans on April 7. This unfortunate incident forced him to leave the field after bowling just one over. His absence from the upcoming matches is a significant blow to LSG, considering his impressive performance in the tournament so far.

Yadav has been a revelation in IPL 2024. He has consistently bowled at speeds exceeding 155 kph, making him one of the fastest bowlers in the tournament. His searing spell of 3 for 14 in four overs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium included the wickets of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green, batters accustomed to facing high speeds on bouncy pitches in Australia. His performances have earned him two Player-of-the-Match awards in his first two IPL games.

However, Yadav’s injury has raised concerns about his fitness. LSG’s CEO, Colonel Vinod Bisht, confirmed that Yadav felt soreness in his lower abdomen during the match against Gujarat Titans. As a precaution, LSG is managing his workload over the next week. They hope to see him back on the field soon.

LSG will need to adjust their strategies in Yadav’s absence. His express pace and ability to pick up crucial wickets have been key factors in LSG’s success in the tournament. The team will need to rely on other bowlers like Yash Thakur and Naveen-ul-Haq to step up in Yadav’s absence.
