IPL 2023: Veteran Believes Arshdeep Singh Needs “One Good Spell” To Bounce Back

Punjab Kings(PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh has been giving away a lot of runs lately, something that has met with heavy criticism.

The 46th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 saw a thriller clash between the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings and the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Wednesday, May 3.

Batting first, Punjab posted a staggering 214 runs on the board for Mumbai to chase. However, during the run chase, the bowling attack of the hosts was lackluster, especially the performance of Arshdeep Singh in particular. The Indian pacer conceded 66 runs and only managed to take one wicket in the process.

Deep Dasgupta says Arshdeep Singh needs one spell to get back on track

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Deep Dasgupta recently reflected on Arshdeep’s recent performances and opined that the 24-year-old needs one good spell to get back in the rhythm.

“Punjab’s bowling unit has gone for plenty in the last few games. I don’t think that helps their confidence either. Someone like Arshdeep, I mean as good as he is, but he has been very, very expensive. Leave aside this game; even in the last game, he was very expensive,” Deep Dasgupta told Cricbuzz.

“As a unit, they haven’t performed. He is not very expressive, but you can see in his body language that he needs one good spell to get him back into that right mind space,” he added.
