IPL 2023 has given a platform to several younger talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh. The tournament has shaped the careers of young cricketers, but also gave a lot of cricketers the financial security that everyone needs in order to sustain. CSK pacer Deepak Chahar has also spoken about the matter.
Deepak Chahar opens up on the matter
Deepak Chahar revealed how it also helped cricketers to gain a lot of confidence as well. He gave the example of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, Chahar mentioned that since they have financial security because of IPL, the cricketers can play a fearless brand of cricket and go for Hollywood shots right from the start.
“What IPL has given to Indian cricket team and players.. means a lot. First of all, it’s a good platform. You are playing in front of the audience for the first time. The pressure of playing in front of 40000-50000 people. Not everyone can handle everything. One witnesses that in IPL. The one who is playing in the IPL is aware of the pressure you’ll have while playing for India. In fact, you will feel motivated there because you are playing for the country,” Chahar said in the latest episode of Breakfast with Champions.
“Also, you don’t have financial crisis. Today, youngsters don’t face any financial crisis before playing for India. They are already well-paid in the IPL. That’s why players like Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar (Yadav) can hit a six in the very first ball in international cricket. Or else, no one would have dared to hit a six on the very first ball. They think that ‘one ball is nothing, I have talent, I can earn money’” Chahar added.
Meanwhile, Chahar has bagged 12 wickets in nine matches in the ongoing IPL 2023. He will be part of the summit clash between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
