IPL 2022 Match 13 Review:

The thirteenth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 pitted the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Rajasthan Royals (RR). RCB secured their second successive win on the back of Dinesh Karthik’s heroics and handed RR their first loss of the tournament.

IPL 2022 Match 13 Review:

Sanju Samson lost the toss for the third time in a row and was asked to bat first at the Wankhede. Both sides named an unchanged playing XI for the match after coming into the fixture on the back of wins.

The strip at the Wankhede assisted seam bowling with lateral movement and extra bounce. Free-flowing openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal found it difficult to score off the new ball.

The young left-hander’s poor start to the tournament continued with yet another short outing. He was castled by a delivery that nipped back in and breached the bat-pad gap.

Devdutt Padikkal and Buttler negotiated the powerplay, settling for a run-a-ball 36. The duo accelerated in the initial stages of the middle overs, but struggled to keep the momentum going on a sluggish surface and tight bowling by the RCB bowlers.

While Hetmyer struggled for timing in his 31-ball inning, a late flourish by Buttler propelled RR to 169-3 in 20 overs. Akash Deep conceded 23 off the final over while the last 2 overs overall cost RCB 42 runs.

Anuj Rawat and Faf du Plessis put up 55 for the first wicket. The duo were at ease in the initial overs and scored 48 runs in the powerplay.

Chahal struck in his first over against his former franchise to remove the opposition skipper. Navdeep Saini followed it up with the wicket of Anuj Rawat, to leave two new batters at the crease – Virat Kohli and David Willey.

In the strangest of circumstances following a mixup with Willey, Kohli found himself short of the crease by the barest of margins. The ace batter was dismissed for just 5.

The leg-spinner followed it up with a peach of a delivery to dismiss David Willey off the very next ball.

Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmad turned things around in the blink of an eye. The wicket-keeper especially took the attack to Ashwin, and then Saini to reduce the asking rate in no time. The duo scored 67 runs in 32 deliveries for the sixth wicket.
