The seventh match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will mark the first evening contest at the Brabourne Stadium. After facing defeats in their respective first matches, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings are on the lookout for their first points of the tournament.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
The new franchise slumped to a defeat in their first-ever match against Gujarat Kings. While the bowling unit impressed while defending a below-par tota, the batting order failed to fire.
The absences of Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder proved to be heavy for the KL Rahul-led side.
In a silver-lining, the side would be glad of having an off day right at the start of the tournament. The top-order of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock can dictate games on their own terms once they start to click.
Facing a much inferior attack in comparison to the Gujarat Titans, the Super Giants will hope for a much-improved performance.
With several of their overseas players still missing, the new side are likely to field the same XI with three overseas players.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
CSK opened their campaign with a rather flat performance against KKR. The biggest burst of confidence for the side arguably has to be the return of Moeen Ali. The all-rounder is highly likely to replace Mitchell Santner in the playing XI.
Much like LSG, the performance of the top-order was well below expectations. The new-look opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway did not have the best of starts. However, CSK are the last side to panic and implement the chopping and changing of their playing XI right away.
The franchise also desperately missed the impact of Deepak Chahar in the powerplay overs. Adam Milne and Tushar Deshpande have a huge responsibility on their shoulders to create an impact in the powerplay for the spinners to get into the game.
WAGING ODDS: LSG (2.10) VS CSK (1.75)
CSK are the favorites and are priced at 1.75, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹175.
LSG are the underdogs and priced at 2.10, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹210.
Our Prediction
The spin twins Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya bowled well with the dew and their performance could prove to be the key again. Spearheading the attack, Avesh Khan and Dushmanta Chameera could prove to be a handful.
However, the experience of Chennai Super Kings, which has overcome all their shortcomings through the years will be the antidote to LSG’s might.
While the outcome of the toss continues to have an overwhelming impact in the tournament, LSG are expected to win the match.
