IPL 2022 Match 59: CSK vs MI Odds, Predictions, and Analysis

31

Often hailed as the “El Classico” of the IPL, Mumbai Indians (MI), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will clash at the Wankhede Stadium for the first time in 3 years. Currently, both the teams occupy the bottom two positions which are entirely opposite to their performance in the previous 14 seasons.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

The Rohit-led side can no longer qualify for the playoffs and is the only team eliminated. This was not a shocker considering the type of cricket they played this season. Now, they have lost their match-winner Surya Kumar Yadav for the whole season, which further dents their chances of finishing further up in the table.

MI can only spoil other teams’ parties now. But it looks difficult considering all their senior players in Rohit, Ishan, and Kieron Pollard are in poor form. Their bowling has shown some fight as Bumrah regained his form with a sensational 5-wicket-haul against KKR. But MI’s batting looks out of sorts and untrustworthy in the absence of SKY.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Chennai has been playing exceptional cricket since MS Dhoni took over the captaincy. They still have an outside chance of qualifying and hence are not out of the tournament. Their key performer R Jadeja has been ruled out of the tournament but this should not impact CSK’s performance as they have built a complete unit.

However, death bowling will remain a concern for the team in yellow as most of the workload will fall on DJ Bravo. Mystery spinner Theekshana continues to impress as he is one of the underrated performers of the IPL. A lot will depend on CSK’s opening pair of Conway and Ruturak as they have scored the bulk of runs in CSK’s victories of late.

WAGING ODDS: MI (2.00) VS CSK (1.83)

CSK are the favorites and are priced at 1.83, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹183.

MI are underdogs and are priced at 2.00 meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹200.

Our Prediction:

Mumbai Indians’ batting has looked entirely out of touch. CSK’s spinners can easily overpower the out of sorts batting order. In the absence of SKY, MI will find it tough to compete given that Pollard has done nothing in the middle order. Hence, CSK is a favorite to win the game today and make it 2-0 this season against MI.
