Gujarat Titans (GT) registered a comprehensive win over RCB as they maintain their position at the top of the table. Gujarat overpowered Bangalore by 6 wickets at the Brabourne Stadium.

Miller and Rahul come to their team’s rescue as GT close on the playoffs berth

RCB skipper Faf Du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first due to the scorching heat in Mumbai. RCB stepped onto the field with one change as southpaw Mahipal Lomror made his debut for the red army. On the other hand, GT made a forced change as Pradeep Sangwan and Sai Sudarshan replaced Yash Dayal and Abhinav Manohar.

RCB lost their skipper early but former skipper Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar built the innings. Both the players stitched a 99-run stand as Kohli found his rhythm back. Although the right-hander scored a fifty at a lower strike rate, this was his first fifty-plus score in 14 IPL innings. Patidar also brought up his maiden IPL fifty in quick succession.

RCB lost wickets in a bundle in the middle overs but Maxwell’s quickfire 33 and Lomror’s 16 off 8 provided their team a strong finish as they notched up 170 on the scoreboard. Come back man Sangwan was the pick of the bowlers as he took 2 wickets and conceded only 19 runs.

Gujarat Titans had a conservative start as their openers notched up a fifty-run stand. However, GT was in a spot of bother as they lost three wickets between overs 8-10. GT was also playing with one short batter.

But Rahul Tewatia and David Miller had other ideas. They completely took apart RCB’s bowling lineup with their unbeaten 79-run stand. RCB bowlers kept on bowling short despite the fact that side boundaries were short. Rahul Tewatia finished yet another game by scoring 43 off just 25 balls as Gujarat Titans close on to seal the qualification berth.
