Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will clash for the second time this season at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. In their previous encounter, PBKS notched up a comprehensive victory thanks to Liam Livingstone’s all-around blitz.
Punjab Kings (PBKS)
Punjab has had a hot and cold season. They will be stepping onto the field after coming back from consecutive losses. Their previous loss against DC has dented their NRR badly.
The lack of form of their main batters Jonny Bairstow and Mayank Agarwal has been a concern for Punjab. They may consider playing Sri Lankan Rajapaksa in place of out of form Jonny as he was providing explosive starts to the team.
Punjab has played aggressive cricket but their batting does not have depth as they lack quality all-rounders. Odean Smith looked ordinary and has been replaced by Ellis who is a specialist bowler. Hence, Punjab’s limited batting means they will have to shift to a more conservative approach.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
CSK would have their spirits lifted as they are coming off a fresh victory over arch-rivals Mumbai Indians thanks to the best finisher in World cricket MS Dhoni. The team balance looks much better now with the inclusion of South African Dwayne Pretorious who contributed with the bat and the ball.
Although CSK has a long batting lineup, the lack of runs from skipper Ravindra Jadeja and Gaikwad is a matter of concern. It would be interesting to see if Moeen Ali comes back into the XI in place of Santner. However, it may be unlikely as PBKS has a lot of right-handers in their XI.
As far as bowling is concerned, the inclusion of Sri Lankan mystery spinner M Theekshana has reaped rewards for the yellow army. Also, the match-winning spell from young Mukesh against MI would have given confidence to the youngster.
WAGING ODDS: PBKS (1.95) VS CSK (1.85)
CSK are the favorites and are priced at 1.85, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹185.
PBKS are close underdogs and are priced at 1.95 meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹195.
PBKS lack the depth in batting and their bowling has not been up to the mark in the previous two games. Hence, it can be expected that CSK will win this contest unless Liam Livingstone repeats his heroics from their previous match.
