Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Deepak Chahar has hit the nets, continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury. The 28-year-old is expected to miss a large portion of the tournament due to a tournament.
Chahar suffered the injury during the T20I series against West Indies in Kolkata. He was ruled out of the subsequent home series against Sri Lanka.
The franchise bought back the swing bowler at the auction as the most expensive pick in their history. The four-time champions shelled out INR 14.5 crore at the two-day event last month.
Chahar was sent to the NCA to begin his rehabilitation process. CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan had said about the ace player’s fitness status ahead of the tournament. He said:
“We are not aware of their current fitness status and won’t be able to tell you when they would join the squad. Obviously, the BCCI has told us that once they are match-fit, they would intimate us. They are at the NCA currently.”
He is still in Bengaluru working on his fitness as his side gears up to face KKR later tonight. In a major respite for the franchise management and fans, Chahar was seen working on his batting and bowling. Watch the footage right below:

CSK would miss the services of the swing bowler, especially with the tournament taking place in Maharashtra. Chahar enjoyed bowling in the swing-friendly conditions when the side played five fixtures of the IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium.
The likes of Dwayne Bravo, Adam Milne and Chris Jordan will have to distribute the responsibility of pace bowling in the absence of Chahar. The four-time champions will begin their IPL campaign in a rematch of the IPL 2021 final against Kolkata Knight Riders.
