The 2021 IPL season, the 14th edition of the cash-rich cricket league has its 10th match on 18th April when Royal Challengers Bangalore will lock horns against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB has kicked off their IPL 2021 campaign with two back-to-back victories, starting off with a win over defending champions MI and then a narrow 6-run thrashing of SRH. Alongside Virat Kohli’s 33, the match against SunRisers saw a stunning 41-ball-59 from Glenn Maxwell.

However, it was the combined effort from the bowling squad that did their duties to defend their total, as Shahbaz Ahmed’s triple strikes and a remarkable 3.50 economy rate paddled RCB’s defense, added with double wickets from both Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel.

Full Squad: Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Kane Richardson, Washington Sundar, Pavan Deshpande, Finn Allen, Shahbaz Ahamad, Navdeep Saini, Adam Zampa, Kyle Jamieson, Glenn Maxwell, Rajat Patidar, Sachin Baby, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Daniel Christian, KS Bharat, Suyash Prabhudessai, Daniel Sams, Harshal Patel.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Although KKR did start off the 2021 season with a win over SRH, their second fixture against MI did not go as expected. Despite a stupendous bowling performance, including Andre Russell’s 5-wicket haul that held MI at a score of 152, the batting lineup performed significantly worse in the chase.

Except for the opening duo of Nitish Rana (57) and Shubman Gill (33), the rest of the KKR batting squad failed to earn double-digit scores and a game that was within their grasp, slowly went out of hand.

Full Squad: Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Karun Nair, Eoin Morgan (c), Nitish Rana, Gurkeerat Mann Singh, Tim Seifert, Dinesh Karthik, Sheldon Jackson, Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan, Ben Cutting, Venkatesh Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Harbhajan Singh, Pawan Negi, Vaibhav Arora, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti

Waging Odds: Royal Challengers Bangalore (1.81) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (2.13)

Royal Challengers Bangalore are the favourites and are priced at 1.81, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹181.

Kolkata Knight Riders are priced at 2.13 and are the underdogs. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹213 if they come out as winners.

Our Prediction:

Looking at how the KKR batting squad fell apart in their last outing, they will need to do a lot of prep work to withstand the menacing RCB bowlers, especially Siraj and Ahmed who can easily cause destruction.

The spectacular bowling performance eases the pressure on Kohli and co’s batting regiment, who are most likely to get the better of KKR.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will win the match.
