The Indian pacer who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has tested positive for COVID-19.
Prasidh Krishna becomes the fourth player in KKR franchise to test COVID-19 positive
In the KKR squad, Varun Chakaravarthy, Sandeep Warrier and Tim Seifert had tested positive for the deadly coronavirus in the past. Now Krishna becomes the latest member of the team who contracted the virus.
Sources spoke to ANI and confirmed that the pacer has tested COVID-19 positive. He had tested and the results came in recently. Sources said: “He is down with COVID-19. The results have come in and he tested positive.”
BCCI decided to postpone the 14th edition of IPL in the view of the safety of all the players and the members involved in the coveted tournament.
There have been talks about rescheduling to hold the remainder of the tournament but it is too early to discuss over this matter as COVID cases have increased rapidly in the last few weeks.
SRH wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha had also tested positive for the virus. The CSK squad was in strict quarantine after bowling coach L Balaji tested positive. Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra and the Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey -were also tested
Prasidh was reportedly in contention for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final and also the five-match Test series against England squad. However, his name was missing from the 20-man shortlist and coronavirus could be the most likely reason behind his exclusion.
India will play the World Test Championship Final against New Zealand and it is to be played at Southampton from 18th June onwards.
