IPL 2021 Match 24 Review: MI batter RR’s bowling squad to finish with a 7-wicket victory


Mumbai Indians were able to chase the score set by Rajasthan Royals and bagged the win by 7 wickets on Thursday in the Indian Premier League(IPL) at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.

Rajasthan Royals had already suffered major injury blows as Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes were ruled out. Royals went into the match without Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye as they pulled out from the squad due to COVID-related issues and thus piling up the concerns for the team.

Mumbai Indians had won the toss and elected to field first. Royals’ openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to the crease as Trent Boult with the new ball started the proceedings.

Butler and Jaiswal were off to a great start for Royals. They had a fine powerplay and built pressure on Mumbai Indians. They had hammered the bowlers and looked settled at the pitch.

However, Mumbai Indians made a breakthrough as spinner Rahul Chahar dismissed well settled Butler 41(32) and Jaiswal 32(20).

Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube played brilliantly through the middle overs and tallied a great score for their team. With Samson contributing 42 runs off 27 deliveries and Dube scoring 35 off 31, Royals’ reached a defendable score of 171 runs at the loss of four wickets.

Quinton de Kock rises to the occasion; scores maiden IPL fifty

Right after the break, Mumbai Indians’ openers Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock came down to the pitch eyeing to give their side a bright start.

Quinton de Kock gave his side a brilliant start scoring runs quickly. But, a breakthrough wicket came for Royals’ within the powerplay as Chris Morris dismissed the dangerous man, Rohit Sharma.

Chris Morris also took the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. Quinton de Kock played an outstanding innings as he reached the 50-runs mark. He played a spectacular innings tallying scored blistering 70 runs off 50 deliveries.

Krunal Pandya equally batted well shoulder to shoulder with de Kock as he contributed 39 runs to the chase before being bowled out by Mustafizur Rahman.

It was quite an easy chase for Mumbai Indians’ as they marched on to reach the target score of 172 with 7 wickets left to spare.
