The IPL 2021 season, the 14th edition of the cash-rich cricket league has its 13th matchday on 20th April when Delhi Capitals will face Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Delhi Capitals

After losing to RR in their second outing, Delhi Capitals bounced back strong against Punjab Kings on 18th April, chasing down a target of 196 thanks to the heroics of Shikhar Dhawan. In addition to some big hits from Prithvi Shaw at first, “Gabbar” landed a swashbuckling 92-off-49 that saw DC winning the game with 6 wickets in hand.

While the batting cavalry saved DC from a defeat, their bowling performance in the first innings was showing its weaknesses. Except for Ashwin the rest of DC bowlers suffered over 10+ economy rates as they were being battered by the PBKS batsmen.

Full Squad: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Chris Woakes, R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan, Steve Smith, Umesh Yadav, Ripal Patel, Vishnu Vinod (wk), Lukman Meriwala, M Siddarth, Tom Curran, Sam Billings (wk).

Mumbai Indians

After their habitual campaign opener loss, MI turned things around with back-to-back wins against KKR and SRH, the latter of which got their batting order obliterated thanks to stupendous bowling performance from Rohit Sharma’s company.

After setting a target of 150, the Rahul Chahar-Trent Boult duo showed their form as they scalped six of SunRisers batsmen with three wickets each, added with economic bowling from Bumrah, the SRH batting order succumbed at a score of 137.

Full Squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (wk), Chris Lynn, Anmolpreet Singh, Saurabh Tiwary, Aditya Tare (wk), Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Anukul Roy, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohsin Khan, Nathan Coulter Nile, Adam Milne, Piyush Chawla, James Neesham, Yudhvir Charak, Marco Jansen, Arjun Tendulkar.

Waging Odds: Delhi Capitals (2.17) vs Mumbai Indians (1.77)

Delhi Capitals are the underdogs and are priced at 2.17, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹217.

Mumbai Indians are priced at 1.77 and are the favourites. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹177 if they come out as winners.

Our Prediction:

A repetition of last year’s IPL final, this will be DC’s first game in Chennai this season, while MI has already been well-versed with the Chepauk pitch thanks to all three of their matches having held there so far.

While both teams can clock big runs on the scoreboard, the difference comes down to bowling and as DC’s single defeat so far came down to a failure of defending their total, the impending MI bowling lineup featuring Chahar and Boult can turn out to be the pivot behind the result of the match.

Mumbai Indians are likely to come out as the winners.
