The IPL 2020 season, the 13th edition of the cash-rich cricket league has its 13th match on 1st October when Kings XI Punjab will take on Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Kings XI Punjab
The spectacular batting from the skipper KL Rahul as well as Mayank Agarwal has seen Kings XI Punjab cross the double century mark in both of their previous games, with the latter scoring a century against Rajasthan Royals last Sunday.
Unfortunately, they weren’t able to defend their mammoth total of 223 against RR due to their bowling squad giving away too many runs. Except for Ravi Bishnoi and Glenn Maxwell, the rest of KXIP bowlers all had economy rates over 10, including Mohammed Shami who picked three scalps.
Full squad: KL Rahul (c & wk), Mohammed Shami, Karun Nair, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Deepak Hooda, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Jordan, James Neesham, Tajinder Singh, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Murugan Ashwin, Harpreet Brar, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jagadeesha Suchith, Ravi Bishnoi, Hardus Viljoen, Darshan Nalkande, Arshdeep Singh, Sheldon Cottrell, Ishan Porel.
The defending champions Mumbai Indians have secured only one victory so far in IPL 2020 and lost the super over against Royal Challengers Bangalore despite equaling a total of 201 on Monday.
However, the current star of the MI dressing room is of course Ishan Kishan. The youngster smashed a blistering 58-ball-99 with nine over boundaries, along with Kieron Pollard’s astounding 24-ball-60.
Full Squad: Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma (c), Rahul Chahar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Quinton de Kock (wk), Digvijay Deshmukh, Ishan Kishan (wk), Dhawal Kulkarni, Chris Lynn, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mohsin Khan, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Kieron Pollard, Prince Balwant Rai, Anukul Roy, Sherfane Rutherford, Anmolpreet Singh, Aditya Tare (wk), Saurabh Tiwary, Jayant Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav.
Waging odds: Kings XI Punjab (2.10) vs Mumbai Indians (1.61)
Kings XI Punjab are priced at 2.10 and are the underdogs. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹210 if they snatch a victory tomorrow.
Mumbai Indians are the underdogs and are priced at 1.61, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win the match, you’ll be making ₹161.
Economic bowling is required from Punjab to restrict the MI batsmen from hitting big ones. Having said that, the superb form of the KXIP batting squad gives them an upper hand, as chasing down a target beyond 200 is becoming comfortable for them.
The MI bowlers need to be on top of their game to stop the likes of Rahul and Mayank from landing another double century score, should KXIP bat first. While Kishan will be on high batting expectations along with Pollard, the MI skipper Rohit, along with de Kock and Hardik Pandya will strive to put up substantial scores. It will be a win for Mumbai Indians.
