The IPL 2020 season, the 13th edition of the cash-rich cricket league has its sixth matchday on 24th September when Kings XI Punjab will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Dubai International Stadium.
Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI Punjab failed to secure a win against Delhi Capitals in the dramatic super-over showdown last Sunday in Dubai. While the skipper KL Rahul did not impress in batting, his opening partner Mayank Agarwal smashed an 89-off-60. However, the rest of the KXIP batting squad produced lacklustre performance.
Mohammed Shami impressed with three wickets and very economical bowling figures, along with Sheldon Cottrell who secured two scalps. The young Indian leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi also had an appreciable performance.
Full squad: KL Rahul (c & wk), Mohammed Shami, Karun Nair, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Deepak Hooda, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Jordan, James Neesham, Tajinder Singh, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Murugan Ashwin, Harpreet Brar, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jagadeesha Suchith, Ravi Bishnoi, Hardus Viljoen, Darshan Nalkande, Arshdeep Singh, Sheldon Cottrell, Ishan Porel.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The most talked player out of RCB’s superb victory against SRH on Monday was the 20-year old youngster Devdutt Padikkal, who smashed a half-century. While the captain Virat Kohli and Aaron Finch were on mediocre runs, the stalwart of the team AB de Villers showed his prowess once again with a 30-ball-51.
Yuzvendra Chahal led the defence against SRH with securing three wickets, along with two wickets each from Navdeep Saini and Shivam Dube.
Full Squad: Virat Kohli (c), Parthiv Patel (wk), AB de Villiers, Chris Morris, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shivam Dubey, Aaron Finch, Umesh Yadav, Adam Zampa, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Dale Steyn, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi, Gurkeerat Mann Singh, Isuru Udana, Devdutt Padikkal, Shahbaz Ahamad, Joshua Philippe (wk), Pavan Deshpande.
Waging odds: Kings XI Punjab (2.10) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (1.66)
Kings XI Punjab are priced at 2.10 and are the underdogs. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹210 if they come out as winners tomorrow.
Priced at 1.66, Royal Challengers Bangalore are the waging favourites, which means if you bet ₹100 on them and if they snatch a victory tomorrow, you will be making ₹166.
Interestingly, both KXIP and RCB have an equal head to head record, each having defeated the other 12 times in IPL. However, none of them have lifted the IPL silverware yet.
Except for Mayank Agarwal, the rest of the KXIP batting squad including the skipper need to pick up their pace against the threatening RCB bowling lineup. The big hitter of the team Chris Gayle, who missed last game, will be expected to start tomorrow. On the other hand, Shami will join up with Cottrell and Bishnoi to restrict the opposition batsmen.
On the other hand, the charismatic Chahal will look to pick up more scalps next match, with Saini and Dube’s economic bowling. Dale Steyn will be there for pacing duties. Padikkal is expected to make it big once again, along with the veteran ABD expected to make fireworks again. Both Kohli and Finch, although losing their wickets early last match, will be looking to hit big ones tomorrow, and Royal Challengers Bangalore will secure a victory.
