The IPL 2020 season, the 13th edition of the cash-rich cricket league has its 22nd match on 8th October when Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Kings XI Punjab at the Dubai International Stadium.
Despite a superb 60-off-44 from their skipper David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to chase down a 200+ Mumbai Indians last Sunday. Except for Warner, the rest of the batting squad looked lacklustre with only Manish Pandey touching the 30 run mark. Despite Sharma and Kaul giving away too much run while picking two wickets each, Rashid Khan maintains his superb form with a 5.50 economy rate and a scalp.
Full Squad: David Warner (c), Rashid Khan, Sanjay Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma, Abdul Samad, Mitchell Marsh, Shreevats Goswami (wk), Mohammad Nabi, Fabian Allen, Abhishek Sharma, Basil Thampi, Billy Stanlake, Sandeep Bavanaka, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Virat Singh, T Natarajan, Kane Williamson, Shahbaz Nadeem, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Siddarth Kaul, Priyam Garg.
Kings XI Punjab
Even though their start to IPL 2020 was hopeful, Kings XI Punjab are slowly exposing their weak points, and that is in the bowling department. Despite scoring an appreciable 181 against Chennai Super Kings, with good hits from the captain KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran, the KXIP bowling squad were decimated as CSK chased down their target without losing a single wicket.
Full squad: KL Rahul (c & wk), Mohammed Shami, Karun Nair, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Deepak Hooda, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Jordan, James Neesham, Tajinder Singh, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Murugan Ashwin, Harpreet Brar, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jagadeesha Suchith, Ravi Bishnoi, Hardus Viljoen, Darshan Nalkande, Arshdeep Singh, Sheldon Cottrell, Ishan Porel.
Waging odds: Sunrisers Hyderabad (1.80) vs Kings XI Punjab (2.00)
Sunrisers Hyderabad are priced at 1.80 and are the waging favourites. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹180 if they come out as winners.
Kings XI Punjab are priced at 2.00 and are the underdogs. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹200 if they snatch a victory tomorrow.
Along with Warner and Mayank’s good performance in batting, Rashid Khan is the main weapon of the SRH bowling squad, although, equally economic figures are required from Kaul and Sharma if they want to defend against the destructive KXIP batting order.
The substantial batting that KXIP has displayed, is becoming ineffective due to their comparatively weaker bowling. Shami, Bishnoi, Cottrell and Jordan all will be eyeing to bounce back harder if they want to dispatch their next opposition batting lineup effectively.
It will be a victory for Kings XI Punjab.
