The IPL 2020 season, the 13th edition of the cash-rich cricket league has its seventh matchday on 25th September when Chennai Super Kings will play against Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Stadium.
Chennai Super Kings
After the remarkable victory against defending champions Mumbai Indians in the inaugural IPL 2020 match, Chennai Super Kings couldn’t register their second victory against chasing the mammoth score of Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday.
Faf du Plessis continues to impress with superb batting two matches in a row. However, the good news for CSK is the return of MS Dhoni in his natural form. Although losing last game, the skipper pulled off three massive sixes towards the end of the chase. However, the continued absence of Ambati Rayudu is a trouble for the team.
Along with quick hits with the bat, Sam Curran continues to impress with the ball, picking three scalps against RR. Deepak Chahar also landed an economic spell, but Lungi Ngidi and Piyush Chawla ended up giving away too many runs in the last match.
Full Squad: KM Asif, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Sam Curran, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Josh Hazlewood, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Kedar Jadhav, Narayan Jagadeesan (wk), Monu Kumar, Lungi Ngidi, Ambati Rayudu, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Mitchell Santner, Karn Sharma, Shardul Thakur, Murali Vijay, Shane Watson.
Delhi Capitals edged off a victory in their IPL 2020 opener against KXIP in a dramatic super-over conclusion. While it was a poor show from both the openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan, the captain Shreyas Iyer, along with Rishab Pant both landed impressive performances. However, the star of the DC batting order was Marcus Stoinis, who smashed a 21-ball-53 in the last game, along with picking two wickets.
A stellar spell from R Ashwin saw him secure 2 scalps in just one over. Kagiso Rabada also impressed with double pickings, along with economic bowling, from Axar Patel.
Full Squad: Shreyas Iyer (c), Ravichandran Ashwin, Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Daniel Sams, Lalit Yadav, Keemo Paul, Alex Carey (wk), Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Ishant Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, Anrich Nortje.
Waging odds: Chennai Super Kings (1.80) vs Delhi Capitals (2.00)
Chennai Super Kings are priced at 1.80 and are the waging favourites. Betting ₹100 on them will earn you ₹180 if they snatch a victory tomorrow.
Delhi Capitals are the waging underdogs and are priced at 2.00, meaning if you bet ₹100 on them and if they win tomorrow, you’ll be making a clean ₹200.
One advantage that DC has over CSK today is the venue. While this will be Chennai’s first game in Dubai, Delhi already played their first match here.
DC will be dependable on another stellar all-rounding performance from Stoinis, with both Iyer and Pant providing the extra runs. Ashwin to lead the bowling squad with Rabada and Patel to keep the opposition batting lineup under pressure.
CSK has the impeccable in-form du Plessis, who’s expected to produce fireworks again. Along with Shane Watson, Dhoni now looks ready to hit the big ones. Sam Curran will conduct the bowling attack along with Chahar, while both Ngidi and Chawla will make an effort to produce more economic figures. Chennai Super Kings will come out as winners.
