IPL 2019: MS Dhoni has dismissed both Riyan Parag and his father

MS Dhoni has been playing cricket for several years now. He made his Rani Trophy debut for his state Bihar in the 1999-2000 season. So, it has been almost 2 decades that Dhoni has regularly featured in competitive cricket. Interestingly, an incident has recently come into the limelight is of Dhoni dismissing a cricketer several years back, and Dhoni dismissing the son of that cricketer too in the 2019 IPL.

When Dhoni’s Chennai Superkings took on the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur where the home team chased down the target set by Chennai in a last over thriller, Dhoni dismissed the young 17 years old Riyan Parag in the match.

What is fascinating over here is that, just after Dhoni’s first-class debut for Bihar, Bihar squared off against Assam in an East-Zone match. In that game, the opening batsman for Assam whose inning was cut short by Dhoni’s stumping after scoring a 24 ball 30, was none other than Riyan Parag’s father Parag Das.

This makes Dhoni one of the very few wicketkeepers who has dismissed a father and son duo in competitive cricket. Ace commentator Harsha Bhogle brought this to people’s notice as he took to Twitter to share the following:

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is in spectacular form and is showing glimpses of vintage Dhoni in this IPL. Whereas Parag too has been impressive and has looked solid as a batsman and also is a handy bowler.
