Hyderabad will host the final of this year’s IPL while Vizag will be the venue for both the Eliminator and Qualifier 2.

The IPL final that was scheduled to be held in the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai has now been relocated to Rajiv Gandhi international cricket stadium in Hyderabad. It is said to take place on May 12th.

As per sources, the decision was taken due to the fact that stands I, J, K continue to remain closed at Chepauk. Thus Chennai will now host Qualifier 1 alone and the both Eliminator and Qualifier 2 have been shifted to Vizag.
The initial schedule saw Hyderabad host both the Eliminator and Qualifier 2. But with elections scheduled on those days, it has now been shifted to Vizag.

“We will have discussions with TNCA as we don’t want to deprive CSK their right of playing at home. But three empty stands is an issue. Hyderabad and Bangalore are the two standby venues for two play-offs, Eliminator and final,” said a senior BCCI official.

Looking at how the current table reads, it looks as though it will be CSK who are set to miss out on home advantage in case they win the Qualifier 1, which they will most likely secure in their upcoming games.
