IPL 2019 Day 33: RCB vs KXIP Preview

51

Tonight’s IPL clash sees Kings XI Punjab take on Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kings XI Punjab, who have fell off the radar in the last few games will look to get back to winning ways.

Start of the season saw Punjab begin their campaign very strongly while the RCB camp suffered consecutive losses. The tide has changed completely now as Virat Kohli and co are the middle of their astonishing journey to make it to the playoffs while Punjab’s form makes for a worrying read.

RCB’s campaign got off to the worst of starts as they lost six consecutive games and looked don and out. 3 wins in their next 4 games have now given them a glimpse of hopes with them now needing to win all of their remaining games to stand a chance of making it to the playoffs.

There have been too many problems to ponder for R Ashwin in recent times. The side have been over dependent on their openers and their failure has only resulted in low scores. Similarly their bowlers just haven’t upped their game and have leaked runs at will.

Team News:

Despite going for a plenty in the previous game, Umesh Yadav will most likely retain his spot in the playing eleven as Kohli wouldn’t look to alter the winning combination. Henrich Klaasen was seen sweating it out in the nets but he will have to wait until Moeen Ali leaves for the world cup preparations.

With Punjab losing very often, Ashwin hasn’t got to keep a constant bowling attack and has had to tinker with the lineup to produce best results. With a batting paradise at stake, Ashwin might try to rope in Pooran for Viljoen and field exactly 5 bowlers yet again.

Expected XI:

RCB: Parthiv Patel (wk), Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers, Akshdeep Nath, Moeen Ali, Marcus Stoinis, Pawan Negi, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Dale Steyn, Yuzvendra Chahal.

KXIP: Chris Gayle, Lokesh Rahul (wk), Mayank Agarwal, Mandeep Singh, David Miller, Hardus Viljoen/Nicholas Pooran, Sam Curran, Harpreet Brar/Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin (c), Mohammed Shami, Murugan Ashwin.
