The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is taking significant steps to ensure the best possible assistance for Olympic-bound athletes. IOA president PT Usha has announced that sports-specific support staff will be housed closer to the Games Village in Paris.

This strategic move is aimed at providing help to the athletes without any waste of time. The support staff’s proximity to the Games Village will ensure that athletes can access their services promptly and efficiently.

PT Usha finalizes the arrangements in Paris

PT Usha, who recently returned to India after finalizing the arrangements for Indian athletes and support staff in Paris, emphasized the importance of a robust support system. She noted that Indian athletes have evolved tremendously over the years and have become very professional in their approach to training and competition.

To match this professional approach, the IOA is committed to ensuring that athletes have a similar, if not better, support system during the Olympic Games. This commitment is reflected in the decision to book apartments for the support staff near the Athletes’ Village.

In addition to this, the IOA has made arrangements for shooters and golfers to stay closer to their respective event venues. The Chateauroux Shooting Centre and the Le Golf National are located a considerable distance from the Olympic hub. By securing accommodation closer to these venues, the IOA aims to minimize travel time and maximize the athletes’ focus on their events.

The support team will be under the control of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, a leading sports medicine and orthopaedic expert in the country. This arrangement ensures that athletes have access to top-notch medical care and advice, further enhancing their performance potential.

PT Usha’s announcement comes as a reassurance to athletes and their families, signalling the IOA’s commitment to providing the best possible environment for athletes to excel at the highest level. It also sets a positive tone for India’s preparations for the Paris Olympic Games.
