Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma will be quite relieved after finally converting his start into a half-century. Sharma was the top scorer for their team in their clash against the Chennai Superkings at the Chepauk as he finished with a 48 ball 67 runs. While the slow and sluggish nature of the pitch was caused trouble for the batsman to get going, Rohit’s composed innings helped Mumbai reach a total of 155, which eventually proved to be a match-winning one.
Rohit’s half-century made him the batsman with most 50s against Chennai Superkings as he cruised to his 7th half-century against the men in yellow. The MI captain is followed by David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan who stand at 6 half-centuries each against CSK. Moreover, Sharma enjoys the challenge against CSK and is a consistent performer against them. He has now 3 50s against them in the last 5 face-offs between Mumbai and Chennai.
Rohit was adjudged as the Man of the Match last night and as a result, he now has bagged the most man of the match awards by an Indian player. Yusuf Pathan and MS Dhoni have bagged 16 of them.
Interestingly, Rohit has played 6 games at the Chepauk against Chennai, 2 for Decan Chargers, 2 for Mumbai Indians, and 2 as the captain of Mumbai Indians and his team has won all of them. Chepauk is considered as the fortress for CSK, the hunting ground for the home side. However, Rohit is yet to face a single defeat against Chennai at the Chepauk.
