Indonesia Open Super 1000: HS Prannoy wins quarterfinals against Rasmus Gemke, enters semis

Indian shuttling superstar HS Prannoy has advanced into the semifinals of the ongoing Indonesia Open Super 1000 with a superb 21-14, 21-12 victory over Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in the quarterfinals at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.

The match started with a 5-0 lead from Prannoy, who made it 11-7 in the interval of the first game. While Gemke made some spectacular smashes to catch up to Prannoy, the Indian was still comfortably ahead and a service error gave him a six point lead on the match point, as he took the first game 21-14.

The second game saw a more neck to neck start, with Prannoy how having a 2-point lead into the break. Resuming with an 11-9 scoreline, the Indian started to increase his lead with beautiful spinning shots and backhands, before taking the second game as well as the victory with a spectacular backhand dig of a yorker from Gemke, flicking it over the net to end the scores at 21-14, 21-12.
