India’s latest racing prodigy, nine-year-old Atiqa Mir, is all set to make her debut in the MECO-FMSCI National Karting Championship Rotax Max 2024. This young talent hails from Jammu and Kashmir and has already made a name for herself in the world of karting.
Atiqa Mir’s Karting Journey
Atiqa’s journey into the world of racing began when she was just six years old. Her first competitive race was in 2021, and since then, she has been making waves in the Micro Max and Mini X30 categories. She is the reigning Vice-Champion in the UAE IAME National Championship, Vice-Champion in the Mena Cup, and the second runner-up in the DAMC Cup. Her achievements also include multiple pole positions, fastest laps, and lap records.
Atiqa’s debut in the National Karting Championship is eagerly awaited by fans and competitors alike. She will be competing in the Micro Max category, which is for racers aged 7 to 12. This is the first time she will compete in all five rounds of the Championship.

Atiqa’s father, Asif Mir, who is India’s first national karting champion and a former Formula Asia Racer, expressed his excitement about Atiqa’s homecoming. He said, “We have been waiting to show our mettle in the highly competitive Indian National Championship. It’s a homecoming for Atiqa.”
Atiqa now resides in Dubai, where she trains with George Gibbons Motorsports. She competes in both the European and UAE Karting Championships. Despite her young age, Atiqa has shown immense dedication and passion for the sport. She discusses driving techniques and race data with her father, showing a level of understanding and maturity beyond her years.
