All you need to know about Night Street Race
The Chennai street circuit, spanning 3.5 kilometres, promises twists, turns, and adrenaline-pumping straights. Starting at the Island Grounds, it will weave past iconic landmarks like Marina Beach before looping back to the starting point.
The circuit, crafted by Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd (RPPL) in partnership with the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), marks its much-anticipated debut at the IRF. This collaboration aims to elevate motorsports in India and ignite a new wave of interest in the sport.
The IRF features two thrilling championships:
FIA Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC): An FIA-certified open-wheel, single-seater racing event for young drivers. It serves as the stepping stone from karting to single-seater racing.
Indian Racing League (IRL): India’s only four-wheel racing league and the world’s first gender-neutral racing championship series. Eight teams, including stalwarts from Delhi, Kochi, Goa, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, will compete.
Night Racing: A street race at night presents unique challenges and excitement. Chennai’s debut night race follows in the footsteps of successful street circuits like Monaco and Singapore. It’s a spectacle that brings racing closer to the public, making it a big spectator sport.
