The Indian U-18 women’s hockey team clinched a comfortable 3-0 victory over Poland to reach the semifinals of the Hockey 5s competition at the ongoing 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

India’s Mumtaz Khan could have also broken the deadlock at the same minute but the danger was thwarted away by the Polish custodian.

Both the teams struggled to find the rhythm at the ongoing half, but it was India who drew the first blood. Indian forward Lalremsiami got the better of Poland’s Nicole Chruscz and gave her team the lead at the 10th minute.

Poland pressed hard for an equalizer but failed to get past the Indian defense. At the 14th minute, Indian captain Salima Tete extended India’s lead and Baljeet Kaur put further salt to the wound 54 seconds later.

The final scoreline read 3-0 as India overcame Poland and punched their tickets into the semifinal match.
