Indian trap shooters faltered at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in Baku, failing to secure berths in the title round, on Sunday. The disappointment came to a head when Vivaan Kapoor bowed out after a tense shoot-off with Great Britain’s Matthew John Coward-Holley, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist.

Vivaan Kapoor, one of the promising Indian trap shooters, bowed out in a shoot-off with Coward-Holley. Kapoor shot 120 in the qualification round, which led to a three-way shoot-off for the sixth and final qualifying spot. However, he missed his third shot, resulting in a 2-3 loss in the shoot-off. This led to Kapoor settling for the seventh place.
Besides Kapoor, other Indian shooters also had a disappointing outing. Prithviraj Tondaiman scored 117 and ranked 24th, while Bhowneesh Mendiratta scored 116 and ranked 39th in the men’s trap event. In the women’s trap event, Rajeshwari Kumari finished a disappointing 23rd with a score of 108, while Shreyasi Singh ranked 29th with a score of 107, and Manish Keer ranked 38th with a score of 105.
