The Indian para-badminton team has given the country a reason to celebrate as three of its top shuttlers, Sukant Kadam, Tarun, and Suhas, have secured their berths for the upcoming Paralympics in Paris.

Sukant Kadam’s impressive performance

Sukant Kadam, who will be participating in the Paralympics for the first time, will compete in the men’s SL 4 category. The SL 4 category is designated for players with low-level movement impairments on one side of the body, in both legs or a minor absence of one limb.

Kadam has been consistently performing well over the past few years, regularly winning medals. His bronze medal victory at the Asian Para Games was instrumental in securing his spot in Paris.

“This is a dream come true for me, I have worked really hard to qualify for the Paralympics,” Kadam said in a release. “But this is not the end of the dream, winning a medal and making India proud is how I would like this dream to end.”

Tarun and Suhas have also qualified in the same category. Both players have been delivering impressive performances and dominating the circuit. Their consistent performances have earned them their spots in the upcoming Paralympics.

Mandeep Kaur qualifies in SL3 Women’s Singles

In addition to these three players, Mandeep Kaur has qualified in the SL3 women’s category, which is for players with moderate movement impairments on one side of the body, both legs or the absence of limbs. Nithya and Sivarajan have made the cut in the mixed doubles SL6 category.

The shuttlers are currently in Bahrain to compete in the Bahrain Para-Badminton international tournament. This tournament will serve as a crucial part of their preparation for the Paralympics. The Paris Paralympics are scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 8.
