The target was to clock 3:11.87, surpassing Kenya’s time of 3:11.88 for the 16th and last spot in the Paris Olympics. However, the India A quartet, consisting of Muhammed Anas, Jyothika Sri Dandi, Muhammed Ajmal, and Kiran Pahal, finished with a commendable time of 3:12.87, erasing the previous national record of 3:14.12 seconds set at the Asian Relay in Bangkok.
Despite narrowly missing the Olympic qualification, their performance showcases India’s growing prowess in athletics. Interestingly, Kiran, who trains outside the national camp, played a crucial role in this achievement. While the disappointment lingers, the Indian relay teams continue to inspire with their remarkable efforts on the track.
