Indian golfing stars Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar have secured qualification for the Paris Olympics via the world rankings. They join Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar to form India’s four-member golf team for the event, which will be held from July 26 to August 11.
Aditi Ashok’s third Olympic appearance
Aditi, ranked 24th in the world, will make her third Olympic appearance, which is also the most for an Indian athlete. Her impressive performance in the Tokyo Games 2020, where she finished fourth, highlights her prowess on the international stage.
Diksha, who claimed the 40th position in the world rankings, will be competing for the second time at the Olympics. Notably, she is the only golfer to have appeared in both the Olympics and the Deaflympics, where she is a two-time medallist. Diksha also holds the distinction of being the second Indian woman to win on the Ladies European Tour (LET), following in Aditi’s footsteps. She achieved this remarkable feat at the young age of 18.

The Indian Golf Union sends the Olympic entries, and qualification is determined by rankings. The top 15 players in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) are eligible for the Olympics, with a maximum limit of four golfers allowed from a single country.
Additionally, the Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR) consider up to two eligible players per country beyond the top 15, provided that the country does not already have at least two golfers in the top 15.
