P R Sreejesh, the stalwart Indian hockey goalkeeper, has announced his retirement from international hockey after the Paris Olympics. Sreejesh’s journey has been one of dedication, sacrifice, and milestones. From his humble beginnings at the G. V. Raja Sports School, where his father sold their cow to buy his first kit, to becoming a national hero, his story is etched in determination.
The 2012 London Olympics marked a turning point in Sreejesh’s career. Despite bitter losses, it fueled his resolve to rise and never back down. Sreejesh led India to historic victories, including their first Asian Champions Trophy and an Asian Games gold, both secured in intense shootouts against Pakistan.
