I-League: Shillong Lajong gets relegated after being thrashed by Aizawl FC

After serving eight continuous years in the I-League, Shillong Lajong finally got relegated from the top division of the country as the all-Indian side lost 1-4 to Aizawl FC. In the 40th minute, Kenstar Kharsong brought down Ansumana Kromah inside the penalty box and the referee pointed towards the dreaded spot.
The Liberian made no error in converting the penalty and giving Aizawl FC the lead. The trio of Isak Vanlalruatfela, Lalkhawpuimawia, and Ansumana Kromah spelled danger for the young Lajong outfit as they scored thrice after the 80th minute to give the home side an unassailable four-goal lead. Donboklang Lyngdoh did score a consolation in the 93rd minute but it proved to be too little too late as their relegation got certain.
