FC Pune City upset FC Goa

FC Pune City created an upset in the Hero Indian Super League by defeating FC Goa at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune. This win takes the Orange Army to the seventh position with 11 points from 12 games. FC Goa, on the other hand, remain on the fourth position with 17 points from 10 games.

Marcelinho Perreira gave the home side the lead at the 74th-minute through a thunderous screamer with acres of space gifted to him on the outside of the box. Marko Stankovic hit the final nail in the coffin at the dying embers of the game after converting a spot kick. The scoreline finished 2-0 in the favor of FC Pune City as FC Goa extended their winless run to three games.

Real Kashmir obliterate Shillong Lajong

Earlier in the I-League, Real Kashmir FC soared to the third place after defeating Shillong Lajong 6-1 at the TRC Turf Ground in Srinagar. Abednego Tetteh opened the scoring gates after latching on to a pass by the imposing Gnohore Krizo. Samuel Kynshi restored the parity for the Shillong side three minutes later after Bilal Khan’s clearance ricocheted off his chest to the back of the net.

At the 38th minute, Mason Robertson connected Surchandra Singh’s corner kick to give back the Kashmiri side the lead. The goalscorer Tetteh turned into the provider at the stroke of half-time by sliding the ball onto the path of Nagen Tamang who made no mistake in slotting it past the goalkeeper. The half-time scoreline read 3-1 in favor of the hosts, and the quality of their gameplay ensured more goals were to come.

Gnohore Krizo got his name into the scoresheet as the game resumed by converting a spot-kick. After a dry spell of 25 minutes where no goal was scored, Surchandra Singh made it 5-1 for the home side after the initial shot of Nagen Tamang was saved by the goalkeeper. Abednego Tetteh hit the final nail in the coffin at the 83rd minute after connecting local lad Shahnawaz Bashir’s cross.
