The Indian Women’s football team defeated Indonesia 2-0 in the run-up to the Olympic Qualifiers on Wednesday. It didn’t take the Blue Tigresses much time to draw the first blood as Sanju put the ball in the top right corner after being fed through by Ratanbala Devi inside the penalty box in the 20th minute.

The Blue Tigresses continued to blaze all their guns but, the Indonesian defense held their line extremely well. Finally, in the 92nd minute, Dangmei Grace doubled the lead by chipping the ball over the goalkeeper after the initial shot was saved.

Bengaluru FC bounced back from their 1-0 loss to Mumbai City FC as they toppled Northeast United FC 2-1 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Miroslav Komorski scored an own goal before Federico Gallego levelled things up for the Highlanders.

It looked as if the game was headed for a draw but Bhutan’s Chencho gave the Karnataka-based team the lead in the 71st minute. Northeast United FC put their bodies forward to find the equalizer. However, they couldn’t get past the man mountain Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who produced a staggering 18 saves to be adjudged the ‘Hero of the Match.’

Mohun Bagan and Gokulam FC shared the spoils in their I-League encounter at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata. Mohun Bagan got the lead in the 18th minute through Shilton D’Silva after the Indian nodded the ball in from a well-taken Sony Norde corner-kick. However, their joy was short lived as Lalchhawnkima put the ball across his net three minutes later.

Gokulam FC rode on the momentum and took the lead through their new signing Marcus Joseph, who scored his third goal in three matches. The scoreline read 2-1 in favor of the Malabarians as the team headed out towards the tunnel. However, when the teams came out, it was Mohun Bagan who seemed as the better team.

The Green and Maroons finally got their reward in the 60th minute through Aser Dipanda Dicka. They tried to find the winning goal but failed.

He will be loaned to NEROCA, who are in the fifth position in the I-League title race and desperately needs a new foreigner to ensure their title aspirations don’t go futile.

Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj performed CPR on his player Makan Winkle Chothe in their U-18 match against Reliance Foundation Youth Champs. The midfielder, who even plays for the senior side, collided with the rival goalkeeper and collapsed on the ground then and there in the 40th minute.

The officials and match commissioner stopped the game and signaled towards the bench to get their physios. Makan was unable to breathe and his mouth was foaming. Sensing that the teenage sensation’s life was in danger, Ranjit Bajaj cleared his mouth and performed mouth-to-mouth CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). Ambulance was called in eventually and after another CPR was performed there, the youngster gained consciousness.

According to Fangarage, Bhubaneshwar will host a four nation women’s football tournament in February 2019 at their Kalinga Stadium. Not only that, the city will also play host to the 2019 Hero Super Cup, which features all the I-League and ISL clubs.

Iran, Nepal, and Myanmar will be three other countries, the Blue Tigresses will lock horns with in the tournament in the run-up to the Olympic Qualifiers which will begin on the first week of April.
