AIFF has officially invited applications for the senior team head coach position after Stephen Constantine resigned owing to India’s group stage exit in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. The position has been left vacant but as India might participate in the Kings Cup in June, the country needs a new coach as soon as possible. Moreover, he will also be responsible to take care of the U-23 team of India.

The “key targets” of the new coach will be to ensure the team qualifies for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and AFC U-23 Championships 2022 and produces a remarkable performance in the 2022 Asian Games.

Real Kashmir became the latest I-League club to boycott the 2019 Super Cup. Initially, only Minerva Punjab took the bold step but later seven other I-League clubs joined hands with Indian Arrows, Shillong Lajong, and Real Kashmir being the only ones to be left out.

Real Kashmir said they would be monitoring the situation and take a call later. But now, they have made their stance clear to take sides with other I-League clubs.

Indian Arrows’ star forward Rahul KP has penned the deal with Kerala Blasters for the upcoming 2019-20 season. This has made the Thrissur-born player the fourth FIFA U-17 World Cup player after Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem, Nongdamba Naorem, and Jeakson Singh to sign for Kerala Blasters.

While the former name is a regular for Kerala Blasters under the sticks, the latter two names feature regularly for their B teams. Only time will tell whether Rahul KP will play for the main team or the ‘B’ team of Kerala Blasters.

Super Cup 2019: East Bengal changes stance on their participation

As per the latest reports, East Bengal might play in the Super Cup. The Executive Committee held a meeting after which they requested QEBFC chairman Ajit Isaac to change his stance over participation in the Super Cup.

Quess East Bengal FC has a 70-30 joint venture with Quess group holding 70% share and the remainder by the East Bengal officials. The Quess group sided with the other I-League clubs over the unfair treatment meted out to them whereas the East Bengal officials wanted the team to participate in the tournament.

A letter has been forwarded to Mr. Ajit Isaac and the final decision will be taken by him. As per his orders, East Bengal will or will not participate in the Super Cup
