Real Kashmir FC has surged to the top of the table after holding East Bengal to a 1-1 draw at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Lalramchullova scored an own goal for the Red and Golds before Joby Justin equalized.

The first half was a tepid and cagey affair, with both the sides playing it safe. However, eleven seconds into the second half, Real Kashmir took the lead after Surchandra Singh delivered a deadly low cross. The cross had so much venom in it that Lalramchullova mistimed his clearance and, the ball bulged the back of the net.

East Bengal got their moment of redemption in the 56th minute when Lalrindika Ralte stepped up to take a corner. Kasim Aidara connected the Mizo’s inswinging flag-kick only for Danish Farooq to make a goal-line clearance. Jobby Justin pounced on the rebound to rocket the ball in an empty net.

East Bengal threw more men up front as the game neared its ending and, Real Kashmir looked to play on the counter. However, neither of the teams could break the deadlock as the scoreline finished 1-1.

NEROCA outwitted Mohun Bagan 2-1 at the Khuman Lamapak Stadium in Imphal on Friday to climb to the second spot momentarily. After Real Kashmir’s draw against East Bengal, the Manipuri side slipped to the third place again. Mohun Bagan, on the other hand, remains on the fifth position.

Eduardo Fereira drew first blood for NEROCA after nodding in Katsumi Yusa’s corner kick in the 24th minute. Mohun Bagan continued to press bodies forward in search of the equalizer and were rewarded in the 63rd minute. Darren Caldeira lobbed in a brilliant cross and, the rival goalkeeper committed himself. However, he couldn’t catch the ball which allowed Henry Kisekka to slam it across an empty net.

However, NEROCA restored the lead in the 69th minute. Sankar Roy punched away a corner-kick only to reach the legs of Subhash Singh. The Indian striker struck the ball with aplomb and Aryn Williams got a foot to it to divert the orbit of the shot. The ball ended up in the back of the net with the goalkeeper caught wrong-footed.
